The First Five Days
We have officially been in Philippines for 5 days and what an awesome 5 days it has been! Flying over was full of anticipation and wonder how life would transform as the days go by. I started to realize this was not simply a short-term trip but a fully committed jump into the deep end!
The first few days we were able to stay with my relatives in Sampaloc, Manila. This is the home my mother grew up in and the base of all our trips to the Philippines, so in a sense it was a home away from home. I was able to reconnect with uncles and cousins and the best part my son Josiah had a blast! The smile on his face showed he was having a great time being surrounded by so many people! Our street in Sampaloc is never a dull street! From neighbors starting off the morning singing Karaoke, to tricycles that sound like harley’s speeding by, to street vendors yelling out their items…”TAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”, to tons of kids playing on the street. Josiah was excited to join those kids and officially became a “batang kalye”, street kid.
In the first 5 days I was also able to join the Foursquare Pastors Retreat where I received my licensing as a foursquare pastor here in Manila. I remember sitting in the hall of about 200+ pastors and just thinking how awesome it is to be surrounded by men and women who decided to answer the call of God in their lives. To go from lost to shepherd!
Then yesterday we were able to move into our new place! After we got settled we invited the Hope Chapel Metro team to come and hang out! You can’t go wrong when you have good friends, good food, good coffee, and a good God! We spent the night just talking, laughing, and dreaming about what God has in store for each of our lives!
And it has only been 5 days!! Continue to check back as I will update more consistently on the adventure of Hope Chapel Metro!
